Nosferatu The Invincible Czars at The Varsity Theater

On Friday night, Oct. 27, at the Varsity, The Invincible Czars bring their nightmarishly fun soundtrack to the world’s first feature-length horror film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) with an immersive combined live soundtrack experience that transports audiences back 100+ years via an age-old tale accompanied by a chilling, tastefully-modern score featuring an impressive blend of traditional acoustic and present-day electric instruments. The band will also perform their lauded soundtrack to accompany a screening of Nosferatu, the world’s first Dracula movie. Buy tickets below!

Safe Halloween

Trick-or-treat with Murdale Merchants and enjoy a day filled with bounce houses, hay rides, games, bison burgers, sno cones, and more! The Halloween fun begins at 10:00 AM and goes until 2:00 PM in the parking lot of the Murdale Shopping Center.

Friends of Carbondale Dog Parks is working with Murdale's Safe Halloween
We'll have a pet parade, costume contest, a photo booth and a table with information about the Carbondale Community Dog Park and thank you gifts for donations that keep the dog park supplied with dog waste bags and allow on-going upgrades and amenities.

The Great Carbondale Pumpkin Race is a chance to have fun and raise money for local charities and non-profit organizations by designing, building, and racing your very own Pumpkin Racer! The event is free, with the winner of the free races cashing in on $100 grand prize.

Live at Washington and Main presents BOOgrass artists Lindsay Lou and Kyle Tuttle Band! Music Starts at 4:30 PM with Miss Jenny and runs until 10 PM at the Washington Street venue in downtown Carbondale. Bring your lawn chairs, pack the coolers, put on your costume, and spend the Halloween weekend grooving to some good music! You won’t want to miss this free all ages show featuring a costume contest, local vendors, BYOB & BYOC!

The City of Carbondale is excited to announce the official trick-or-treat hours will be Tuesday, October 31, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Residents wishing to hand out candy should light up their porches or driveways.

More than one billion pounds of pumpkins are grown in the U.S. every year, and after they’ve been used for Halloween decorations, pies, and jack-o’-lanterns, millions of them will end up in a landfill. Help Compost More Pumpkins - Get Involved! SIU Sustainability Office, Jackson County Health Department, and Green Earth Inc. have partnered to host the first Southern Illinois Pumpkin Smash Event!
